ALLISON’S STORY

Allison Moore, who has given me permission to use her name, first came to see me in 1995 after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation for synovial sarcoma of her hip.  She was experiencing bilateral foot drop and was walking with an awkward gait.  After the chemotherapy, her latent genetic predisposition to Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) had emerged.  Since then, this degenerative nerve demyelinization disorder has produced progressive muscle atrophy of her legs, feet, and hands.  A year after Allison and I began Health Patterning, the synovial sarcoma reoccurred.  We worked together for another year, and since then she has come in from time to time for what she calls her “power boost.”  She has remained cancer free following the second surgery and radiation in 1997. 

Allison has been an inspiration in terms of her fighting spirit and advocacy for herself and others.  She learned about power-as-freedom and has used imagery exercises, techniques of will, and dream reading to transcend the initial devastation she felt with the cancer and the CMT.  Even now, she tells me, she uses the exercise where she imagines a magic wand tapping her legs, ankles, and feet and bringing the nerves to life.  She sought out experts in both conventional and alternative healthcare who have helped her considerably.  She and her husband have also fulfilled their dream of having two children, even though she was warned that she would end up in a wheelchair if she ever had a child. 

Allison decided during our work together that she would start a foundation to search for a cure for Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease.  She started on her own from scratch and now has an active client advocacy and research-oriented non-profit organization called the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation (HNF).  In my book, tentatively titled The Power-As-Freedom Book, you will find Allison telling you her story in her own words.  She has had quite a journey, and whether or not you are struggling with a life-threatening illness, Allison’s words will touch your heart.  Allison has this to say: “Health Patterning helped me view my illnesses as opportunities for learning how to deal with life circumstances, not as tragedies, but as experiences that helped me become a more powerful person.”  Click here to learn more about Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) and the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation.
