REVERSING
Someone once asked my imagery teacher from Jerusalem, Colette Aboulker-Muscat, what principle was most important in her educative work with others. She replied, “Reversing.” To reverse means to do the opposite and reversing our habitual attitudes and ways of thinking, feeling, and acting is one of the keys to healing. Experiencing such reversing brings hope, new possibilities, and confirmation of our power to change ourselves and how we see the world.
You will notice that reversing is the basis for many of the Power Prescriptions I use in my practice that are described on this site. For example, the “Power Plan” provides an approach to reversing troublesome habits and feelings. The “Dis-Emergency State” reverses anxiety, fear, and panic to calmness and realization that while the emergency state is experienced as real it is not true since there is no true emergency at that time. The “Life Repair Process” reverses a troubling situation. Review “Techniques of Will” to gain further understanding of “Reversing” as a Power Prescription.
