Dr. Barrett has a national and international reputation and has lectured throughout the United States, Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, South Korea, Australia, and the Philippines.  She currently is a psychotherapist in the private practice of Health Patterning in New York City, as well as a research consultant.  She is a member of editorial boards for Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and Visions: The Journal of Rogerian Nursing Science, and a member of editorial review panels for several professional journals.  She is co-president of Power-Imagery Partners and co-author of the Power-Imagery Process.  Dr. Barrett is a member of the International Women’s Writing Guild (IWWG).
